Some lead producers will refer to IVR leads as people that have phoned into an IVR system. The IVR system asks there a number of relevant questions based on your product or service. More than two-fifths of American homes (45.4%) had cell phones and no landline phones in the 2nd half of 2014 – a 4.4% increase from a year prior, and double since 2008. About 44.1% of all adults (106 million) lived in wireless only homes -- and the same for 54.1% of all children (40 million children). In addition, a sixth of American homes (14.9%) still had a landline, but received all or almost all calls on their cell phones.
A compliant phone based lead campaign relies upon contacting only landline numbers (now in a little more than 50% of US homes) that are not on the federal or participating state DNC a lists (removes the remaining 70%). The numbers still available can be called for a compliant lead generation campaign. The issue from a lead generation standpoint is, for the houses that still have landlines; very few people ever answer them when they ring.
Unlike a personal cell phone which is answered a high percentage of the time, home phones are generally still in existence for emergencies therefore there is no need to see who is calling in since no one even knows the phone number.
